Your eyes are incredibly complex. They work hard from the minute you wake up to the minute you go back to sleep, constantly taking in information about the world around you. By far the most important organs of sense are our eyes. We perceive up to 80 per cent of all impressions by means of our sight.
Use the drops or the ointment as per the instructions in the patient leaflet. If after 2 days there is no improvement in the condition or the symptoms are worse, stop use of the drops or the ointment and speak to your pharmacist.
If there is improvement in the condition, continue to use the drops or ointment until the symptoms clear. If the condition returns shortly after finishing treatment speak to your pharmacist.
On application of the drops or the ointment to infected/sore eyes, mild effects such as a sensation of stinging, irritation or itching may occur. These will subside but if they continue, stop using the drops or ointment, the eye should be rinsed and seek advice from your pharmacist.
If the eye becomes inflamed, swelling develops around the eye or a skin rash appears, stop using the drops or ointment and seek medical advice immediately. Take the drops or ointment with you.
Any side effects experienced should be reported to the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency via the Yellow Card scheme at www.mhra.gov.uk/yellowcard. By reporting side effects, you can help provide information on the safety of this medicine.
Contact lenses should not be worn during treatment with either the drops or ointment. The preservative in the drops is known to discolour soft contact lenses. Wait 24 hours after finishing using the drops before starting to wear lenses again. Once the ointment has cleared from the eye, contact lenses can be worn again.
GoldenEye® 0.15% w/w Eye Ointment is preservative-free.
GoldenEye® 0.1% w/v Eye Drops Solution contains the preservative benzalkonium chloride.
Vision may blur on application of the drops and ointment. Driving and use of machinery should be avoided until vision is clear.
Consult your pharmacist or doctor before using during pregnancy or breast-feeding.
GoldenEye® 0.1 w/v Eye Drops Solution or GoldenEye® 0.15% w/w Eye Ointment should not be used at the same time as other eye drops, ointments or lotions. Your pharmacist should be consulted on their use.
Both the drops and the ointment should be stored at room temperature. The cap on the bottle or the tube should be replaced firmly after use to preserve the remaining contents.
There is no lower age limit for use of either the drops or the ointment.
